Saw this on Waxy - LOLCODE, a coding language based on LOLCats. My favorite example is this HelloWorld routine:
HAI
CAN HAS STDIO?
VISIBLE “HAI WORLD!”
KTHXBYE
Why in the world is this so funny to me?

The O’Rly book is what really makes that article.

Ha, I hadn’t noticed the O’Rly book before.
Stupid skimming.

The thing that cracks me up the most is that people have have already written utilities to translate LOLCODE programs into Python and a few other programming languages. It would be hilarious to distribute the source of a program in LOLCODE.

I hate to have to do this to you, but: http://yosh.org/hello1.jpg

I hate to have to do this to you
Obviously. I see that striking a “hipper than thou” pose is causing you real pain. Griefer.
June 12th, 2007 at 7:02 pm
So you could actually write a song about LOLcats that is also an application?
June 12th, 2007 at 7:22 pm
I keep waiting for LOLMonkeys.
June 12th, 2007 at 7:34 pm
Luke, I meant that only in good fun. No grief involved.
KTHXBYE

Sweet god in heaven! And I thought C++ was unreadable…
This definitely counts as a sign of the Apocalypse… but it’s still damned funny.
So how long until “degenerative code” becomes the new rage?

That lolcat humor just reaches into your soul, rips out something important, sprinkles it with glee, then redeposits it… in your soul.

I honestly can say that I absolutely hate this LOLCODE stuff. Even worse being that so many implementations have been done so quick in my darling language: Python.
We are not amused.

Gotta love GTFO as the “break” keyword! I also don’t get why it’s so funny but I found myself rotflmfao like the LOLrus. Oh dear, this has really gotten to me. KTHXBYE, er… peace out.
June 13th, 2007 at 10:27 am
Paul: I agree - “GTFO” is absolutely the best break keyword.
Andrea: I wish there were a real O RLY book.
JoCo: We can haz LOLsong now? KTHXBYE.

Speaking of geekspeak…an oldie but goodie, the IRC Bible… the one where Moses fought the Pharoah is classic but they’re transitioning their site as well and it apparently remains in the wilderness. :*(

This LOLcode thing is clearly a litmus test, a device to separate the l33ts from the n00bs. Call the Aliens and let the culling begin.
