History

"You Could Be Her" was released as the sixteenth Thing a Week, on January 6th, 2006. The song was originally written for and recorded by Jonathan Coulton's previous band, Supergroup. (For another song written for Supergroup, see Madelaine.)

Live performance

"You Could Be Her" is believed to have never been played at a Jonathan Coulton concert.

Trivia

  • It is probable that Jonathan was referring to the Connecticut Buckingham Square Mall in Aurora, Connecticut, which is relatively close to his home of Colchester.
  • A BA is a Bachelor of Arts degree.
  • "Movers and Shakers" generally refers to influential, powerful people, for instance, bankers or businessmen.
  • The opening riff is reminiscent of the guitar lick in The Beatles' "Sun King," providing another link between Coulton and The Beatles.
