Sweatiest Show Ever

By JoCo May 18, 2008

I don’t have a picture otherwise I’d post it as proof, but man was it hot in that room. Also I was rocking A LOT. I may have to just throw that shirt away. Thanks to San Diego and everyone at Lestat’s, it was a really fun show despite the fact that we were all standing up and sweating like pigs. Plus Bill Corbett helped out with Chiron Beta Prime, which makes my geek heart all fluttery.

I should mention that friends of the JoCo wiki are always grateful when people who come to shows contribute details like set lists and videos and pictures and other details, so if you’ve got stuff like that, you can post it here: http://www.jonathancoulton.com/wiki/index.php/Shows_calendar. How else will historians know how to judge me?

Slept late, watched Meet the Press, drank some bad hotel room coffee. Packing up now to head to LA for the show at House of Blues tonight. I will see you there…

Ebay!

I recorded a lot of the show from the farthest left on the rightest row. Though I missed some bits, like the first half of Mr. Fancy Pants, and everything after. Whoops. And then the shaky camera due to giggling, or etc.

http://www.viddler.com/explore/Boltstriker/videos/1/ is Still Alive to RE: Your Brains. I have the sweaty guitar bit too, post-Chiron Beta Prime, and I'm uploadin' that. In hindsight I should've tried uploading these clips in order...

Adam says

Thanks for the video J. Pivot! If you have more to upload, I'd love to see them.

J. Pivot says

Of course! Slowly working on it, though.

Great show JoCo! I got a picture with you after the show and yeah, I can personally attest to the ridiculously sweaty shirt with that. Maybe I'll cut me out and put that up on the wiki. Hope to see you again soon!

MitchO says

Thanks for the Wiki push, Jonathan. :) Yes, we've been trying to get at least a set list for every show since JoCopedia went live. We have one or two stragglers that we can't seem to find people from. Eventually we'll know that JoCo has played "I'm Your Moon" 324 times, or 63% of his shows, and how else can useless statistic geeks like myself get this information?

Len says

Man, you guys are living the geek dream. I am so incredibly jealous of you and P and S.

Ann says

Wait wait wait... so you all are telling me that Jonathan, Paul, Storm AND Bill Corbitt were on stage at the SAME TIME? It's prolly a good thing that I wasn't there otherwise I may have gone in to a geek-induced anaphylactic shock.

Steve says

Excellent show. Way too damn hot though. Did you really have Rick-Pants-Roll us though? Really?

Yaxley says

When I read that Bill Corbett helped you out, I made a noise that cannot be rendered by English phonetics. The best I can do is to describe it as a prolonged inhaled scream where I choked at the end. Seriously, the combined awesomeness makes me choke every time I think about it. Oh dear. If you rock too much harder, the apocalypse will surely be upon us.

That being said, please keep rocking as hard as possible.

Corby Kennard says

Hi, Jonathan. I'm the guy with the baby who had to leave before the show. My wife and I spoke with you outside. Yes, that room was hot - so hot we had to miss the show.

Bill Corbett?? Man, I am a HUGE MST3K fan, and I am just a smidgen jealous of the people who got to see both of you on stage at the same time. Oh well. Maybe next time.

Thanks for coming to San Diego anyway. We had fun standing in line and meeting you, and we are enjoying the CDs. Have a great rest-of-the-tour.

CarrieP says

Don't toss the shirt, sell it on Ebay as a relic!

Bryan says

Wonderful show! I loved how much you put Paul and Storm to work. Those background harmonies add sooo much to some of those songs, ie Chiron Beta Prime, Creepy Doll, Tom Cruise Crazy! Anyway, both my wife and I had a fantastic time, she was extremely happy to hear I Feel Fantastic btw, and we can't wait until you are back out this way again. Although hopefully when it's slightly cooler. =)

"Message Redacted" in a Crow voice?!?

That. Is. SO. COOL. Some kind of serious geek syzygy there!

Bakudai says

Oh man, I was totally there, but we had to leave during fancypants because the stage started twisting and turning due to the heat. You guys know how to put on a show better than any other.

Thanks for a great show it was a blast, it was super hot but hell it was great.

Devin says

Thanks for the show JoCo. I was one of the peeps on the side conspiring with the four year old to stab you with a pen (until you caught on to our plan). My friend was the out of tempo zombie.

Tim says

Y'thanks much for the show! It. Was. Sick. I've looked at a bunch of "Re: Your Brains" vids on Youtube, and in none of them did I see Jonathan laugh as much as he did in this show. People were belting it out like crazy, zombieizing like none other, it was great. S.D.ers are just hard-core like that, I guess.

P.S. 4 yr old rules!

Lynn says

I am so sad that I missed the show. It was my husband's birthday and as Kate, my very dear friend pointed out, he is not the geek the rest of us are. Next time I will be there! JoCo rules! I'm off the kitchen for a snack. I think there's some left over brains in the fridge. Hmmm, brains

Kaji says

It was an oven, but I'd sit through every sweltering moment again. Show was a blast. Can't wait for your return. You guys rock.

Diane says

I had to go alone because none of my friends are nerdy enough to love the music like I do. I need new friends. Come back to San Diego.

The Girl Who Was Plugged In says

I went to three shows that week, and yours was sweatier than the 91 degree X-Fest, but also incredible and probably my favorite! Great music, great company, a cleansing sauna experience thanks to El Nino. You were excellent with the rocking, but hilarious with the sweating and the talking. It was classic when you removed your guitar to show us the fabulous sweaty vermillion your torso had turned. Nipple Sweat! I'm glad your amazing, shiny, red thingee wasn't damaged by the miami-esque fug we had going in there. If you came here again, I'd do it again, even knowing we'd all be stripped down, pasty, sweating geeks packed into a room.

By the way, I am so proud we got you to crack up during re:Your Brains. Audience Participation is always fun! Excited Arrr! Come back soon.

PS> I'm going to be lobbying the programmers at SD's ComicCon to pay you guys to play for next year. Wouldn't that be fantastic? San Diego in July, International Nerds of Mystery, Movie Stars, people dressed like they live in the television, Air Conditioning- what could be better? Come on!
