Holy Crap It’s Quick Links!
Duck and cover suckers!
A video of kids riding around on go-carts set to the delightfully car-y Stroller Town.
Another Creepy Doll image from Matt (OK, this one’s technically not a “link”).

A video of a giant creepy doll puppet from Macgellan. Yipes. This one’s really unsettling.
From JoCoPro, a video for The Presidents created by possibly non-US-citizen Holger.
Update on the AOL is Evil story: Consumerist has this rather damning copy of the employee manual on retaining customers (thanks Graham).
An interview with ME is posted over at GarageSpin.
That’s all the quick links for now! Was that too quick for you?

Giant creepy doll! Very different music, but I liked that too.
That image posted is very, very dark. I can barely see anything in it.

Finally, Stroller Town is one of those songs I idn’t love immediately, but have definitely grown to going back and listening to it again.

I try to test my images on as many types of monitors as possible before releasing them, but there’s always going to be some that don’t display the darker images properly. My graphics workstation PC, Laptop and Mac at home all look fine. Our work PCs look a bit darker, but not unviewable. I’ll see about posting a lighter version on my site when I get home.

It’s weird — I’ve looked at the image in several different applications, all of which are unreadably dark. Granted, PC monitors tend to be a little darker than Macs, but this is something else. I can see the other images on your site fine. Well, the church one is dark, but not this dark.

Hmm, it’s kind of dark on mine, but not unseeable. Maybe I screwed something up - it certainly wouldn’t be the first time.

That giant girl doll has got to be one of the creepiest things I’ve ever seen in my life. I kept waiting for it to show a glimmer of sentience, tear itself from it’s moorings in a gulliverian fit and destroy the little folk as they scurried away.
Also, some of the search tags for it, if you expand them, are like sex, and xxxx. What weird sort of fetish is that? Must be a German thing.
July 26th, 2006 at 1:17 pm
Yeah, there is some sort of giant fetish out there. Actually, before I was “famous” the only thing that came up when you googled my name was this piece of giant fetish fiction (or whatever it is, maybe just plain old fiction): http://www.thevalkyrie.com/stories/1misc9/margaret.txt. It’s always been a complete mystery to me why my name is used for the bad guy boss who gets thrown into the sky…

It’s ridiculously dark here too. I opened it up in a graphics program and displayed the histogram, and everything is bunched up at the far left hand side instead of spread out evenly.

Here’s a version I’ve tweaked to make it brighter: http://www.alexholden.net/misc/creepydoll2_tweaked.jpg

Yeah. I noticed that too. It must have happened in the resizing when we weren’t looking because it wasn’t like that last I checked. I just emailed JC a newer, brighter version.

You, sir, are a mean boss. But I was always curious about how you got onto the moon since NASA had cancelled flights.

I was overwhelmed by the quick nature of your hyperlink posting.
July 27th, 2006 at 12:25 am
If I was that 9 year old kid, I’d want to know why my dad picked a song about babies in stollers for the sound track.
July 27th, 2006 at 5:03 am
That is really creepy, Matt. I’d love to see the whole video.
July 27th, 2006 at 7:28 am
Thanks Len. Aside from the honey and the spoon, it was all thrown together from pieces of former projects. That’s why it got done so quickly. The doll is just a slightly modified version of the girl in my Yellowstone eruption pic. This song is just screaming for a video in a Tim Burton Corpse Brideish style. Perhaps the other projects could be put on hold for a while ….

The “sex” tags are probably just so it shows up in more searches, really. And except for the music, I didn’t find the little girl giant creepy at all. I think it’s quite nifty, actually. But then, I’m not afraid of clowns, either.
